Our client is a manufacturer with a 20+ year history and over 100 employees in 4 countries. As a result of family values, a collaborative culture, and hard work, the company is now one of North America’s leading wholesalers in their niche area. The Company is expanding with a new facility this role will be building out the process and teams for.  

What- the Role: 

Swim Recruiting has been engaged to find a new Director of Warehousing & Logistics. Reporting to the COO, your role will focus on introducing and implementing measurable goals that challenge our efficiencies and budget objectives without compromising safety, quality, and culture. Using our robust inventory and reporting system, you'll be able to help plan and educate standards that will help the company meet and exceed goals. We are looking for an experienced Warehouse leader to be accountable for warehouse operational efficiencies and expanding our team's capabilities in both our Canada and US locations. If you have a proven track record in a leadership role, a strength in systems and building teams and are looking to take your career to the next step this role may be for you. 

What- the Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Director of Operations and COO, you will overlook all operations of our Warehouse in Vancouver, Canada and Virginia, US. This includes, but is not limited to, planning, and reviewing compensation actions and enforcing new policies and procedures.
  • Manages and is accountable for costs, efficiency of warehouses through the development and tracking of operational objectives and budgets.
  • Accountable for cost reports to ensure the business unit meets or exceeds defined targets.
  • Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
  • Working closely with leadership, meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems, evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, implementing changes.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Attending trade shows, travel and building out of new operations as the company expands are also key responsibilities.

Who- the Candidate: 

We are looking for a dedicated Warehouse leader that has a strength in building teams, systems and processes with experience leading in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial company and will be able to jump into work and handle a variety of tasks while partnering and supporting individuals at all levels of the organization.  
  • 5+ years’ experience in warehouse, logistics, and distribution at a Director level, including order management and distribution network evaluation.
  • Direct experience in supporting multiple locations with a track record of system optimization, process improvement and creation of efficiencies.
  • Ability to lead teams, influence and develop others is a key leadership skill required for this position. 
  • Experience utilizing financial, operational, and scheduling documents and metrics to successfully lead through leaders
  • Must have the ability and willingness to travel

What- The Role: 

The Senior Buyer, Procurement is a role with the opportunity to lead a diverse team. This position provides leadership in achieving the ongoing goals of the Procurement Modernization program, and will transform how our client buys and pays for goods and services by simplifying processes, improving service delivery, delivering value/savings, and embracing technology. You will be responsible for developing a cohesive team to support and realize the vision of Procurement Modernization, and instill the mindset of customer service, service delivery, and delivering value across the Procurement function. There are also a significant number of initiatives underway where Procurement will be either leading or engaged in exploring how they work with their Suppliers to further our Client’s objectives.

Who- The Candidate: 

Equipped with a minimum of 5 years of progressive procurement/supply chain management experience. The ideal candidate would be a natural leader, with proven experience leading and driving a culture of best practices and continuous improvement, you possess sound supplier relationship and customer relationship management experience and are accustomed to developing and monitoring SLA performance. Duties highlighted below:
Source and negotiate on new and existing materials as requested by Operations/R&D/Marketing/Engineering.   
Improve existing purchasing policies and procedures
Consolidate and optimize purchasing of MRO supplies.
Oversee all staff doing procurement buying.
Initiate request for quotes and supply agreements, where applicable, for items not already covered under purchasing agreements.
Work with suppliers to find new and innovative methods to reduce costs and lead times
Maintain regular contact with key suppliers to build and maintain relationships.
Customs Import/Export experience, including all CERS/CARM paperwork needs.

Who- The Candidate: 

Equipped with a minimum of 10 years of progressive procurement/supply chain management experience, the ideal candidate holds a SCMP designation and a master’s degree in a relevant discipline. A natural leader, with proven experience leading and driving a culture of best practices and continuous improvement, you possess sound supplier relationship and customer relationship management experience and are accustomed to developing and monitoring SLA performance. In addition, you have strong forecasting and planning skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience engaging, leading and working with teams and stakeholders with a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion and ensuring customer service excellence. Knowledge of Workday an added bonus.
