What- the Role:

On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a Director of Marketing.  The new Director of Marketing will base their brand and campaign decisions on customer insight, clear positioning, and people-centric storytelling, ensuring marketing efforts are simultaneously emotionally resonant and commercially effective.

The new Director will lead a small team that is responsible for communications, brand development, proposals, marketing campaigns, etc, all related to overall brand recognition and reputation. The Director will own and drive the marketing, branding, and communications strategy, playing a pivotal role in accelerating growth and accessing new business opportunities for the company.

The person in this role will create annual budgets and performance targets and will develop strategic plans to deliver on those goals.  The Director will leverage their analytical background to track marketing performance and drive key financial outcomes. This role will involve executing on sustainable and creative yet realistic strategies.

Success in this role requires critical thinking, business savvy, creativity, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, sales, finance, project management, etc.) to deliver a compelling customer experience. 
A significant part of this role is cross-departmental communication, change management, answering questions from the business, and generally getting buy-in for the deep value of marketing from corporate and operational employees. The Director will occasionally visit operating sites (in Greater Vancouver and beyond) to have in-person conversations with the people who are the face of the business. SWIM will provide a full job description to interested candidates.

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Marketing Leader with 10+ years of progressive and relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a formal team leadership capacity.

Formal education pertaining to business and/marketing is highly preferred. Academic credentials in change management or project management are highly beneficial

Qualified candidates for this role will have the ability to develop well-thought-out marketing strategies and then turn around to execute on those strategies with their team.  This Director role can be considered “player-coach” and “hands-on yet big picture”.

We are seeking folks who have worked in the private sector in fast-paced and high-change industries such as technology, real estate, retail, etc. A mix of B2B and B2C marketing is highly preferred, but candidates with only one or the other will of course still be considered.

Foundational experience in a marketing agency or PR firm is beneficial but not required. 

Proficiency with digital marketing and marketing tools & technologies is required (such as email marketing tools), with the passion to continuously gain new marketing knowledge and to seek out new marketing trends and best practices.

 

SWIM is looking for candidates who demonstrate strong, clear, confident, and professional communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across all departments and to effectively manage external stakeholders and marketing service providers.

We are looking for people who are excellent communicators (written, verbal, non-verbal) who love building in-person relationships across a business.

Strong leadership, mentoring, training, and coaching skills are all important, as is a consultative and adaptable nature.

Where:

This company is headquartered in the heart of downtown Vancouver, close to lots of rapid transit options. This is a full-time in-office role during the first couple months in the role, as the Director is getting to know the business and building relationships. After that, there is some hybrid flexibility- please discuss further with SWIM. This company provides a paid downtown parking pass OR a monthly transit pass (depending on how the Director plans to commute to the office).

How Much:

Base salary commensurate with level of experience, skills, and qualifications- in the range of $130,000 to $170,000. Please note for the top end, candidates will need to have many years of relevant experience and will have most/all of the desired qualifications.

What- the Role:

Our client hiring for a new Director of Sales who will lead a sales team (mix of internal and external sales reps and account managers) and who will report into the CEO & Founder.
This role involves a diverse scope of responsibilities including setting sales goals, building annual sales strategy and SWOT analysis with the CEO, analyzing existing sales KPIs and putting in place new KPIs, ongoing optimization of sales systems and tools, resolving unique or escalated issues, providing training and onboarding, etc. The Director will collaborate closely with leaders of other departments including marketing, product design, customer service, distribution & supply chain, and finance.
Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a sales team, with some locally based and many distributed across Canada and the US. 
 

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking a well-rounded B2B sales professional with at least 10 years of progressive and relevant work experience, including at least 4 years in a senior people management capacity. We are looking for people with fantastic sales skills, knowledge, and intuition who can lead by example. The new Director will inspire their team to join them in setting an exciting and more successful vision for the company’s future and figuring out together how a new sales strategy is going to help the organization get there! We are looking for animal lovers, ideally people who have their own very much-loved dog or cat!

  • Sales Experience:
    • B2B sales
    • Retail and/or CPG sector
    • Multi-channel sales- mix of brick & mortar and ecommerce, but brick & mortar is most important
    • Multi-national sales- experience selling to businesses/customers across Canada and the US
  • Team Leadership:
    • Experience leading and mentoring a sales team of 5+ people
    • Experience leading a mix of internal sales representatives (employees earning salary + bonus) and external sales representatives (freelancers earning only commission) is highly preferred
    • Experience leading people across Canada and the US is highly preferred
  • Company & Sector Experience
    • Selling for a company that manufactures their own product is highly preferred (as opposed to 3rd party or distribution)
    • Prior exposure to the pet sector is of course an asset, but it’s not required. Most important is a true love of animals, especially dogs!
    • Working in a variety of company structures is very beneficial (small and large, start-up and mature, private and public, etc.)
    • Experience reporting into a C-suite Executive and/or President and/or Company Founder is preferred

Where:

Headquartered in Greater Vancouver (outside of Vancouver). Ideally the new Director will work full time in-office... or perhaps 4 days/week in-office and 1 day/week from-home (please discuss your ideal schedule with SWIM).
The office environment is busy and upbeat, with employees working side-by-side in corporate functions and production functions.

How Much:

On-target total annual earnings will be in the range of $150,000 to $200,000 (this represents total cash compensation, consisting of base salary plus bonuses). Base salary commensurate with sales leadership work experience, skills, and qualifications. Bonus upside will align with overall performance and sales goals achieved. With multiple successful funding rounds and growing revenue traction since their founding, they're positioned in a market with massive greenfield opportunity across North America's critical infrastructure landscape.
 

You:

You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in enterprise sales experience, with direct experience selling software for industrial, operational, or asset-heavy customer segments.
  • Consistent track record closing net-new logos with $30K–$100K+ ACV deals through consultative, multi-stakeholder cycles.
  • Ability to quickly learn and have credible discussions about plant operations, SCADA/PLC systems, process optimization, and operational efficiency with engineering buyers.
  • Self-starter who builds pipeline independently through targeted outbound, networking, and referral cultivation (this is not an inbound-fed role).

 

Compensation:

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 + variable (OTE: $180,000–$220,000). Uncapped commission structure with no tiers. Extended health and dental benefits, life insurance, and 4 weeks paid vacation included.
 

Where:

This role requires 1 day per week in office (Downtown Vancouver). For candidates outside the Lower Mainland of BC, 1 day per month in office is required. Candidates must be located and able to work in Canada.
