Exciting and successful company in the fast-paced retail sector! This is a great opportunity to develop your HR career in tandem with the company’s growth across the country. Dynamic, diverse, fun-loving, and award-winning corporate culture. Complex and interesting business. Good opportunity for long-term career progression within HR. Excellent total compensation package, including 2 bonus plans and an RRSP match.

Who- the Company:

Our client is a purpose-driven retail company committed to making a positive impact and providing their customers with affordable, high-quality products. The company operates in many countries around the world and is in hyper-growth mode here in Canada. The company is values-based and has built a dynamic, collaborative, and inclusive work culture.

What- the Role:

On behalf of our client, SWIM is recruiting for a new Senior HR Business Partner who will deliver proactive, high-quality HR support across Canada, helping retail leaders focus on performance, growth, and the success of their franchise partnership model. This role blends strategic leadership and hands-on HR expertise—driving talent management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and the implementation of people-focused initiatives that align with the company’s goals. Success depends on building trusted relationships, influencing leaders, and creating efficient, scalable HR processes that enhance the employee experience and partner experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with retail and field leadership teams across Canada to deliver effective people strategies that strengthen store performance and leadership capability.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to franchise partners and leaders, fostering accountability, engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead the development and integration of people programs, policies, and systems that align with business objectives and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to deliver HR projects and initiatives that drive operational excellence and business outcomes.
  • Support and enhance workplace culture initiatives, including employee engagement, health and safety, and Great Place to Work programs.
  • Use data and insights to inform decision-making, identify trends, and recommend actionable solutions to people and performance challenges.

SWIM will provide interested candidates with a detailed job description.

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking candidates who are down-to-earth, friendly, and confident in their skills and abilities. A sense of humour is paramount in this fun-loving culture, as is the ability to stay calm under pressure. Candidates well-suited to this company will be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the drive to make the work experience better for the diverse stakeholders they support.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in human resources, including a least a few years in human resources business partnering.
  • Experience in the retail sector is highly preferred, although not necessarily for someone who is well-suited to working in a fast-paced, high change, and dynamic industry.
  • Experience working for a business with a franchise, joint venture, or partnership business model is a significant asset- but again, not required. We are looking for someone who can quickly learn the nuances and complexities of this model!
  • Well-rounded HR experience spanning employee relations, talent development, L&D, total rewards, organisational development, etc.
  • Experience working for a large and matrixed/multi-entity/multi-regional company with a Centre of Excellence model and partnering with peers who specialize in certain areas of HR is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are very important in this interactive role involving collaboration with colleagues across various departments and geographic regions.

How Much:

Base salary commensurate with HR experience, qualifications, and skills, in the range of $105,000 to $125,000. The total compensation package at this company is very robust and includes…

  • Bonus program (tied to individual performance metrics).
  • Profit share program (tied to overall company profitability targets).
  • 4 weeks paid time off / vacation.
  • Comprehensive benefits package – dental benefits, health benefits, vision benefits.
  • Annual health allowance.
  • RRSP match.
  • Professional development support, if relevant and approved (for example, for CPHR designations).
  • Hybrid and flexible work environment.
  • Other great perks for employees! SWIM can share more.

Where:

HYBRID. The corporate office is in Greater Vancouver, right off a Highway. Free employee parking is provided. Initial training will likely be full-time in office, and after that the Senior HRBP can start to work from home 2 days/week. This employer believes in give and take… on occasion the Senior HRBP will start their workday early to cross-over with other time zones, and on other days maybe the employee finishes work early for a personal appointment or engagement. This is not a micro-management or clock-watching culture, the company trusts their employees to manage their own time, get the work done and hit their deadlines. This company has built a vibrant culture here in Canada, and it’s an exciting time to be in the office to form meaningful business relationships with colleagues from all around the world.
