What- the Role:

The new Advisor, Global Mobility will play a critical part in managing and enhancing the organization’s International employee mobility function. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, execution, and administration of cross-border moves, International assignments, and business travel programs. The Advisor will report directly into a great Global Mobility Manager who they can gain valuable knowledge and mentorship from.
Core responsibilities include advising on International tax and immigration considerations, managing relocation services, and ensuring policy compliance. The role also involves maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and coordinating with external service providers, such as tax consultants and immigration advisors.
The successful candidate may be required to occasionally adjust working hours to accommodate global time zones and should expect frequent International travel (only a couple times per year).

Who- the Candidate:

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of global mobility processes, immigration fundamentals, and International HR coordination. Foundational understanding of tax considerations such as tax equalization and payroll taxable benefit reporting would be great… but it’s not required for a quick and eager learner. Experience working across cultures and time zones, combined with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on deadlines, will be key to success in this role.
 

Qualified candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in global mobility or international HR, with practical knowledge of relocation, expatriate policy, and International assignment planning
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, International Business, Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Familiarity with International payroll alignment and business travel compliance
  • As previously mentioned, understanding of tax equalization principles is very advantageous, but this piece can also be taught
  • Experience advising on immigration matters and staying current with legislative changes across jurisdictions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across different levels and geographies
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a high attention to detail and a proactive, self-directed approach

Where: 

Downtown Vancouver. Close to public transit and many amenities like restaurants and shops. There is some work-from-home hybrid flexibility- please discuss with SWIM.
 

How Much: 

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, education, and skills, likely in the range of $94,000 to $114,000. What- the Role:

Our client seeking a new Human Resources Director who will lead the HR business partnering and overall HR function for an employee group of close to 1000. The new Director will have 3 direct reports at Manager or Senior Manager level who in turn have their own direct reports. These direct reports are based in 3 different countries, and the Director’s employee population is dispersed across several continents.  
The new HR Director will have a diverse and ever-evolving scope of responsibilities that will be grounded in the 4 following key areas:

  • Global HR Leadership- leading up, down, and across. Partnering with senior executives.
  • Global HR Business Partnering- supporting their team to provide best-in-class HR business partnership to their assigned employee groups and departments, ensuring managers have access to information and coaching regarding total rewards, recruitment & hiring, performance management, employee relations, etc.
  • Global HR Strategy- partnering with senior leaders and executives to create and roll-out programs, processes, and strategies that support business goals. Providing strategic business decision support through an HR lens.
  • Global HR Transformation- guiding the business and employee group through transformation and navigating the growth pains that come with change. Getting ahead of organizational needs and anticipating the workforce changes needed to support business growth.

Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for a well-rounded leader with at least 10 years of progressive and relevant progressive experience in their HR career to-date. Qualified candidates for this role will be clear, confident, and concise communicators.

  • Relevant education and qualifications such as MBA, CPHR, HR degree, etc.
  • Experience with a global scope- not just working with a global company, but having daily interaction and collaboration with employees and leaders across multiple countries.
    • Experience supporting an employee population in Asia Pacific and/or Europe is particular desirable.
  • Business savvy, with the ability to articulate how HR bolsters, protects, and improves the business operations
  • Experience with a sophisticated HRIS and other HR tools and technologies.
  • Experience in a hard-asset-based company in a sector such as distribution, manufacturing, retail, transportation, etc., is preferred (as opposed to solely having experience in professional services or project-based sectors). Not required.
  • Multi-lingual- this company has operations in over a dozen countries, so there are quite a few languages that would be beneficial!  This is NOT at all required, just a nice-to-have.

 

How Much:

Competitive base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, in the range of $150,000 to around $185,000.  The company will provide their new HR Director with a solid overall compensation package, including a solid performance-based bonus, a long term incentive plan (LTIP), an RRSP match, competitive paid time off program, professional development support, and excellent health, dental, & vision benefits.   
 

Where:

The company is headquartered in Greater Vancouver. Flexibility on hours is required due to the various time zones within the global portfolio. There will be some business travel in this role, but not much- probably once a quarter at most. NOTE ON RELOCATION- Our client is open to considering a few candidates who are currently living outside of Greater Vancouver and who are very serious about relocating permanently within a reasonable timeframe for a great job.
