  • Compensation Analyst

Human Resources, Payroll & Benefits | Permanent | Greater Vancouver, BC, CA

Our client is a large, successful, and well-established Canadian company that is growing both organically and through acquisitions.  They have an excellent opportunity for a talented compensation analyst who loves to build, create, clean-up, improve… and who wants to put their stamp on a company’s compensation programs and compensation philosophy!

    [ + ] More

Our client is a large, successful, and well-established Canadian company that is growing both organically and through acquisitions.  They have an excellent opportunity for a talented compensation analyst who loves to build, create, clean-up, improve… and who wants to put their stamp on a company’s compensation programs and compensation philosophy!

    Who- the Company:

Our client was established as a single office operation decades ago and has evolved to become one of the largest in their industry in BC and beyond. The company has been growing by leaps and bounds- both organically and via acquisitions (including several acquisitions this year).  Almost one quarter of their employees have been with the company for 10 years or more, which speaks volumes about the organization’s values and commitment to their people and their customers. In the last year the organization has undertaken major business and digital transformations. The company has been hiring very impressive leadership, and it’s a very well-respected and well-managed business in a backbone industry that is relatively recession-proof (for example, no lay-offs have occurred due to Covid-19).

    What- the Role:

Our client has a growing Human Resources team, and they are looking to hire a Compensation Analyst into a newly created role. Reporting into the Director, HR Operations (who was herself a Compensation Analyst earlier in her career) and working closely with an external Compensation Consultant, the new Comp Analyst will have a variety of projects to work on. For example, the Analyst will design a pay system framework, review compensation ratios, analyze regional pay differences and make new recommendations, develop and roll out new compensation programs, and lead the company’s participation in various salary surveys. Because the company has been growing exponentially via acquisitions, there is a lot of interesting post-acquisition integration work with the goal of streamlining the company’s overall compensation philosophy. Currently most of the work will be done manually using Excel; however, in 2021 the company plans on implementing the compensation module in their HRIS.

    Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for a proven Compensation Analyst with at least 3 years’ relevant and recent experience and robust Excel-based analytical skills.  Experience conducting compensation analysis for a diverse employee population of 1000+ is preferred, and experience in the retail sector (i.e. multiple locations/branches/stores/operations) is a significant asset. Ideally candidates will have undertaken analysis of compensation for entry-level employees right on up to senior executives. Experience with commission compensation is an asset.  In addition to the technical skills, we are seeking individuals who are down-to-earth, humble, assertive, knowledgeable, helpful, and curious. Great communication skills are crucial, as is a self-motivated work style and a team-player attitude. Our client is a very values-based company that seeks out employees who embody their culture of mutual respect, efficiency, honesty, and customer service.

    How Much:

Competitive total compensation package commensurate with the hired individual’s experience and qualifications. Please discuss further with Swim— we know you’ll be happy to talk about compensation!

    Where:

Greater Vancouver. Currently most employees of this company are working from home due to Covid-19 physical distancing. Longer term the Comp Analyst will likely work from the corporate HQ full-time, although a mix of remote work/in-office work on a long-term basis is potentially an option.

    When & How to Apply:

If you are qualified for, and interested in, this Compensation Analyst opportunity, please let Swim Recruiting know as soon as possible as this search is moving very quickly! If you already have a Recruiter at Swim, please reach out directly.  If you do not yet have a contact at Swim Recruiting, please hit 'APPLY NOW' to send us your resume.
