Artificial Intelligence Analyst - Legal (Compliance & Governance)

A great opportunity for someone with a background in privacy, legal, or compliance to help support the governance of AI across the organization. You’ll support intake triage, contribute to impact assessments, and work cross-functionally to ensure alignment with evolving legal and regulatory frameworks.
For this role, our client is offering a hybrid working environment of 3 days in-office and 2 remote days. This is a 1-year contract.

What- The Role:

The "Technology" sub-function of the Legal Department, provide counsel, support and guidance on Technology legal matters, including ecommerce and digital compliance, emerging technology initiatives, contract review and education, Procurement support and other vendor management efforts.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Analyst - Legal will report to the Director, Legal (Technology). The scope/responsibilities of the position require general compliance, program management skills, including:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including security, digital, technology, legal, compliance, and our relevant teams, to ensure the seamless integration of AI governance with enterprise-wide strategies.
  • Support the business on completing thorough AI impact assessments, in order for senior counsel to identify potential legal and regulatory compliance issues and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of AI governance framework, making adjustments based on evolving technologies, business needs, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Explain complex information to business partners in a straightforward and comprehensive manner

 

Who – The Candidate:

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable compliance operations with proven track record of success
  • 2-5 years of relevant technology and/or privacy experience (legal in-house or corporate team experience/exposure is an asset)
  • A Bachelor's degree is an asset
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has the ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously in an entrepreneurial, rapidly scaling and changing environment.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to execute requested assignments and as part of a team, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good judgment with an understanding of when to ask for guidance or input.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal, research, and communication skills.

 

How much:

$42-43/hr commensurate with experience + 4% vacation pay.

Our client is seeking a well-rounded Contracts Coordinator (Research Agreements, Grants & Funding) who will play critical role within a dynamic and reputable organization known for its support of cutting-edge health research. What- the Role:  

Our client is currently hiring for a Contracts Coordinator who will help achieve their mission of advancing critical healthcare research for all Canadians. This is a newly created role, and the new Coordinator will play a key role on the corporate team. Reporting into a Senior Executive, the Coordinator will liaise with various partner institutions (universities, hospitals, science labs) to process the creation, review, and signing of agreements and contracts pertaining to research funding and research grants. The Coordinator will customize the legal agreements and then negotiate on terms (or explain why terms cannot be adjusted), answer questions, make approved changes, determine timelines, and follow-up to ensure timely agreement reviews, approvals, and signatures. This role requires fantastic organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the confidence to follow-up with external partners to ensure they have all they need to be able to sign off on the agreements.
 

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years and ideally 4+ years of relevant work experience, including direct experience with agreements. Ideally work experience will pertain to research grants and funding, but this is not required! Work experience in a law firm is highly preferred, perhaps as a legal assistant or junior paralegal. Work experience in the healthcare sector (especially healthcare research!) is a big plus, but not at all required for someone who is passionate about the organization’s vision and values who is keen to learn quickly. Qualified candidates will have strong systems skills (MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
 

Where:

Based in Vancouver. More days a week in office at the start during training and relationship building, and after that likely 2 days/week in office and 3 days/week from home (with occasional flexibility to work only 1 day/week from office, if needed).
 

How Much:

Base salary commensurate with experience and skills- in the range of $52,000 to $75,000, with the high end being reserved for candidates who meet all requirements and qualifications.  Additionally, this organization provides excellent health & dental benefits, 4 weeks paid vacation, and a solid pension plan.
