Fantastic senior-level recruitment opportunity with a very successful, well-managed, and well-established Vancouver-based company in a unique and exciting industry. Global operations. High growth. Diverse corporate recruitment portfolio- mostly for Vancouver HQ and across Canada, occasionally recruiting on roles based in other countries.

Who- the Company:

Our client has an over 40-year history of creating wildly successful products that are sold around the world. They have values that promote teamwork, trust, and sincerity. The company has over 2000 employees working in several countries and is continuing to grow! Multiple entities, diversified operations, very complex and interesting business.

What- the Role:

Our client is seeking a talent acquisition resource for their growing HR & TA team. The new Senior Corporate Recruiter will be responsible for recruiting on corporate searches, mainly for the Vancouver global headquarters. This Recruiter will support talent acquisition for all corporate departments (including accounting & finance, human resources, marketing & communications, operations, administration, etc.). The Sr. Recruiter will also recruit for non-HQ roles that are based elsewhere in Canada.
The Sr. Recruiter will report into the Director of Talent Acquisition and will be joining a TA team of 10 (working from 3 different countries, each with different functional & regional portfolios) and an overall HR team of ~60 people. Although primarily focused on Canadian recruitment, the new Sr Recruiter will occasionally support their colleagues in other countries, if the req loads in those regions are particularly high and the req load in Canada at that time is lower. On average, the Corporate Recruiter will be working on a req load of 10 to 15 distinct roles and will fill approximately 5 roles a month.
This is a full-cycle recruitment role, from initial intake meetings with hiring managers through to job description creation, job posting, talent mapping & market insights, sourcing & headhunting, screening & interviewing, salary negotiations, and offers & declines. There is a Recruitment Coordinator on the team who steps in at the onboarding stage of the new employee life cycle. The Sr. Corp. Recruiter will be responsible for providing an excellent candidate experience, with a high-touch, consultative, and professional approach- preparing candidates for interviews, keeping them informed of the process, and declining candidates in a kind and timely manner.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys variety in their recruitment portfolio and who is eager to work for a successful, busy, innovative, and high-growth company.

Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for a well-rounded Recruiter with at least 5 years’ and ideally ~8 years of progressive, full-cycle corporate recruitment experience. A blend of experience in both recruitment agency and in-house recruitment is ideal, but candidates with only one or the other will of course also be considered. The more variety in previous search portfolios, the better (i.e. corporate recruitment within accounting & finance, marketing & communications, human resources, administration, operations, sales, technology, etc.). We are looking for people who are passionate about candidate experience, who are consultative in their approach with hiring managers, and who genuinely enjoy networking and employment branding (in-person and virtual/online).

  • Corporate Experience
    • Experience recruiting for a fast-paced and complex business- perhaps in a sector such as technology, retail, or manufacturing.
    • Experience working for a large company- at least 500 employees and preferably 1000 to 3000 employees.
    • Experience working for a company with multinational operations is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship building abilities are crucial in this role.
  • Self-motivated and creative with a sense of urgency and a team player approach.

How Much:

This company provides a very generous total compensation package including a performance-based bonus, an RRSP match, a generous deferred profit-sharing program, and a customizable health/dental/vision benefits plan.

Chance to work with a reputable, successful, and growing Canadian recruitment firm specializing in legal recruitment. Great opportunity for someone with a couple years of agency-based recruitment experience looking for a long-term home, excellent team culture, and a rewarding compensation package. Also open to junior lawyers or others working in the legal space who are very people-oriented and who are looking for a long-term career change.

Who- the Company:
Our client is a highly reputable and successful executive search firm that conducts high-quality recruitment for corporations and law firms across Canada. The company’s Founder and Managing Partner has two decades of experience in the recruitment business and is recognized in the industry for his deep knowledge and strategic, consultative approach. He and his team have created a culture that celebrates collaboration and a passion for continuous personal & professional development. The people working at this firm have a long-term, consultative, and strategic approach to business, and their client and candidate relationships are at the forefront of all they do.

What- the Opportunity:
This firm has been growing year over year since inception, and the time has come to hire a new Recruitment Consultant for the Toronto office. This is a fantastic career opportunity for a driven recruiter who wants to continue to build their own brand in the Toronto market and who enjoys fulfilling and rewarding recruitment within law and professional services.  The new RC will typically run with 6 to 8 searches at a time. The minimum fee size is $30,000, and the Recruitment Consultant would take part in half of the production (on most of the retained searches) or the entire production (when “specing out” and successfully placing a candidate). Most searches this new RC will be involved in will be based in the GTA, but they may also support the occasional search elsewhere in Canada.

Any agency recruiter will understand the meat and potatoes of this role- full cycle recruitment including sourcing, headhunting, posting jobs, creating compelling and clearly written candidate profiles, ATS documentation, client communication, salary negotiation, etc. What makes this opportunity special are: the firm’s incredible reputation in the market, the opportunity for year-over-year career growth in terms of learning and commission-earning potential, the tight-knit team of amazing people to work with and have fun with, and the deep value of benefiting from the mentorship of recognized and well-respected industry veterans.

Who- the Candidate:
There are two possible qualifications for this role 1) at least 2 years of full-cycle recruitment experience in the Canadian operation of a fast-paced recruitment agency and/or 2) legal sector work experience and education. Ideally candidates will have a blend of both- recruitment AND legal experience.

Candidates could be recruiters who have done some legal recruitment and really want to specialize and go deep in this space. Candidates could also be junior lawyers or recent law school graduates who have realized they have a wealth of people skills and some sales savvy, and they would love to be in the fast-paced and rewarding world of legal recruitment rather than actually practicing law.

Beyond the above, it’s all about the soft skills, communication style, personality attributes, EQ, business savvy, ambition, and potential. Professional, clear, and diplomatic communication skills (verbal and written) are paramount, given the high-profile clientele the search firm works with. Most important is an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and ongoing professional development- we are looking for recruiters who keep on top of trends in the legal market, who listen to the relevant podcasts, read the relevant books, go to the interesting networking events. A successful recruiter in this role will be someone who is a collaborative team player and who is competitive with themselves (“I want to beat my last month, my last quarter, my last year”) but not with their colleagues. Candidates will be confident picking up the phone to speak with anybody and everybody, and will be classy brand ambassadors for the firm across the country.

Where:
Based in downtown Toronto. After initial training, there is opportunity to work on a flexible hybrid from-office/from-home schedule.

How Much:
Base salary / monthly draw, plus commissions, health & dental benefits, PD support, annual team-building trip somewhere hot, etc. The realistic aim is for a high-performance Recruitment Consultant to earn $100,000 in their first full year (draw plus commissions). Doubling that figure in year 2 is achievable for someone highly self-motivated, talented, and capable.

When & How to Apply:
We are happy to provide qualified & interested candidates with more insight and answers than we can capture in this anonymous posting. Swim Recruiting will be presenting the profiles of short-listed candidates directly to the hiring Director. If you already have a Recruiter at SWIM, please reach out very soon.
