Our client is a successful and innovative company working in a very interesting industry at the intersection of energy and technology. The North American head office is located in Vancouver and the global headquarters is based overseas.
 

What- the Role: 

On behalf of our client, SWIM is searching for a self-motivated, intelligent, adaptable, and dynamic immediately available Payroll Specialist who will support the full cycle payroll function which involves processing Canadian (1 province) and American (5 states) payroll for approximately 250 employees. Mix of salary, hourly, and commissioned payroll, as well as some equity-based compensation. Bi-weekly payroll (the payroll for each country is processed on opposite weeks). Overseeing filings and processing of the following: T4, T2200, ROE, WCB, EHT, W-2, W-2C, ACA, Form 941 and 940, RRSP and 401K.
 

Who- the Candidate:

We are seeking someone who loves improving processes and who is excited to be part of a company’s growth and transformation. Qualified candidates will be customer service oriented as this role will interact with all employees and various internal and external stakeholders.
 

  • Working knowledge of Canadian and US payroll rules/legislation and employment legislation required- the more provinces and states, the better!
  • Working knowledge of best practices related to payroll.
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Resourceful and proactive in finding solutions and driving continuous improvements and efficiencies.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster effective working relationships with managers, employees, vendor providers and other external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and use discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and to meet multiple service demands.
  • Candidates who have demonstrated strong academic performance, completed rigorous programs, or achieved notable accomplishments in their field are likely to thrive in this role.
  • Previous personal experience with assessments or testing that measure analytical, numerical, or pattern-recognition skills is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

 

Where: 

If based in Vancouver, the Payroll Specialist will follow a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days from home). Candidates located elsewhere in Canada or in Washington State (USA) may work fully remote. For those in the Lower Mainland, the downtown Vancouver corporate office is easily accessible to public transit, shops, and amenities. The role requires some flexibility in working hours to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple time zones.

How Much:

This company offers a highly competitive total compensation package! Base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $90,000-$100,000. The overall compensation package includes an annual performance-based bonus, an attractive long-term incentive plan with a reasonable vesting timeline, professional development support for PCP and health benefits.

What- the Role: 

As the Senior Payroll Manager, you’ll oversee full-cycle payroll for ~250 employees across Canada (1 province) and the US (5 states), covering salary, hourly, commissioned, and equity-based pay.   • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 2+ years leading a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and employment legislation (BC, TX, NY, CA).
  • Experience leading payroll system implementations or migrations.
  • HRIS experience and integration expertise.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging employees at all levels.
  • CPM/CPP designation (or equivalent).
  • Candidates who have demonstrated strong academic performance, completed rigorous programs, or achieved notable accomplishments in their field are likely to thrive in this role.

The role can be performed fully remotely from anywhere in Canada. Who- the Company: 

Our client is a not-for-profit values-based organization that provides essential programs and services to the communities they support. The organization is currently over 300 employees plus a Board of Directors, with a growing HR department.
 

What- the Role:

Manager, Total Rewards. This is a very well-rounded role managing compensation strategy, compensation & data analysis, job evaluations/classifications, recognition programs, pay-for-performance programs, organizational design, performance management systems, compensation reporting, etc.
Reporting into a senior HR leader and collaborating with an overall Human Resources & Payroll team of 12+ people.
The new Manager will take ownership for compensation strategy, management of compensation programs, development of recognition programs, contributing to goal setting & performance management systems, supporting organisational design, etc. SWIM will provide interested candidates with a thorough job description.
 

Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for an individual with at least 5 years of progressive human resources work experience, with a focus on compensation, including experience with role evaluation, job descriptions and reclassifications, pay-for-performance bonus programs, recognition programs, performance management systems, etc. Experience working in a relevant sector is highly preferred- i.e. Government, NPO, and/or public sector- preferably supporting an employee population of at least 300 people. Some form of HR education is required (a degree, certificate, diploma, CPHR designation, etc.), and CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) is particularly desirable for this role. Experience using an HRIS is important and we are looking for candidates who are confident using technology. Proficiency in Excel is important as this role will involve a great deal of Excel-based compensation analysis work. Candidates will have a friendly, clear, and professional communication style, and will have a caring and compassionate approach.
 

How Much:

Base salary is commensurate with skills, experience, and education related to HR and compensation, likely in the range of $90,000 to $115,000. The overall compensation package is very generous-  the new Manager will be on a Pension Plan, will receive a competitive amount of paid time off (vacation days, personal days, sick days, extra time off in late December), and will also get PD support, excellent health & dental benefits (100% employer paid), and a small transit subsidy. Additionally, this organization works on a 37.5 hour work week and someone who is very hardworking, efficient and productive should be able to achieve very good work/life balance in this position.
 

Where:

HYBRID. The company is headquartered in Surrey, very close to a Skytrain station. There is parking nearby. Initially the Manager, Total Rewards will work from the office 3-4 days a week as they are getting training and onboarding. Longer term, the person in this role can start to Work From Home 2-3 days a week on average (some weeks it may be as many as 4 WFH days a week, some it may only be 1 or 2 WFH days a week… it depends on what is going on at the office, team meetings, projects, etc.)
