What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, Swim Recruiting is looking for a new PayrollManager who will lead 2-3 direct reports (Team Leads) who in turn have their own direct reports, for a total payroll team size of over 12 people. This is the top Payroll position in the whole company, reporting into an HR leader. The total payroll size is around 4000, with a mix of salaried and hourly employees, across multiple Canadian provinces and multiple US states. Using various payroll systems and time & attendance systems.
The Payroll Manager will not be regularly processing payroll themselves (other than to support their team if needed during sick days, vacations, emergencies, etc.). Instead, the Payroll Manager will be focused on strategic leadership of the payroll function.
Performance management of the payroll team (distributed across Canada and the US).
Taking the lead on modernization and automation of payroll processes, and shifting the entire payroll function toward streamlined, efficient, and tech‑enabled processes.
Analyzing the current payroll team structure and ensuring strategic succession planning and workforce planning.
Reviewing existing payroll technologies and seeking out opportunities for system optimization or new system implementation.
Representing the payroll function in leadership meetings with HR, Finance, and other functions.
Managing post-acquisition payroll integration (this company is growing both organically and through M&A).
Who- the Candidate:
On behalf of our client, Swim Recruiting is looking for an experienced Payroll leader with deep expertise in Canadian payroll operations. Qualified candidates will have 10+ years of payroll experience, including at least 5 years working in a formal people-management capacity.
Strong and supportive leadership and mentorship capabilities.
Experience managing a large (minimum 1000 employees), complex, high-volume, multi-provincial payroll, with diverse employee groups, including hourly, salaried, permanent, and casual.
Experience with unionized environments is an asset (not required)
US payroll experience is considered a nice-to-have, but excellence in Canadian payroll is the top priority.
Payroll Technology:
Experience with modern, enterprise-level payroll, time & attendance, and workforce management systems, such as Ceridian, UKG, Workday, ADP, etc.
Proficient in Excel
Experience leading payroll system projects is highly preferred (conversions, implementations, etc.).
Warm, approachable, and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
Professional payroll certification (PCP and/or CPM) is strongly preferred.
How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with payroll experience, skills, and qualifications, in the range of $115,000 to $135,000.

Where:
The company is headquartered in Burnaby, close to rapid transit. In the last several years, the organization has undertaken major business and digital transformations.
What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Payroll Manager. Reporting into a senior HR leader and leading a payroll team of 4. The payroll team processes payroll for 3000 employees across the country (almost all the Canadian provinces). Using a sophisticated and very well-configured payroll system that allows for well-automated payroll cycles. Also using plenty of Excel (for payroll analysis and payroll reporting) and an industry-specific software. There is a small commission payroll (paid out quarterly) that has more of a manual component due to commission calculation. SWIM will share a detailed job description with interested candidates.
Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for a well-rounded payroll leader with at least 8 years progressive experience in payroll, including at least 3 years in people management.
Experience leading a team that processes a payroll of 1000+.
Multi-provincial payroll experience- the more provinces, the better! Exposure to US or International payroll is an asset, but not at all required.
Experience using a sophisticated payroll system such as Workday, Ceridian Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, etc.
Proficiency in Excel and ability to use Excel for payroll analysis and payroll reporting.
Experience with payroll integration after an acquisition of a new company is an asset.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentorship abilities, with experience directly leading teams of 2 to 6 direct reports.
PCP and/or CPM certification highly preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are important in this role.

What- the Role:
We are seeking an Equity Compensation Advisor who will report into the Senior Manager, Total Rewards.
This is a contract role with an ASAP start (quick interview process) and running for around 6 months. There is a chance for contract extension or perhaps even full-time employment down the road, but of course no guarantee. For consideration for FTE, the individual must reside in BC, Alberta, or Ontario. SWIM has placed several people on contract last year at this company who converted to full time employment.
What- the Responsibilities:
Oversee and lead long-term incentive (LTI) design process and review against market data and internal philosophy.
Oversee the equity compensation program, including end-to-end plan design, administration, governance of all equity related offerings.
This includes managing day-to-day operations of stock plans (e.g. RSUs, PSUs, Options), ensuring regulatory compliance, collaborating with stakeholders , and supporting strategic decisions related to total rewards and employee ownership.
Prepare and administer quarterly & annual Employee, Board, and Executive grants.
Partner closely with colleagues on financial reporting to ensure correct and timely reporting on cap table and FMV.
Prepare annual personal tax reporting documentation and equity filings to various regional tax authorities (related to payroll & tax).
Partner closely with legal prepare grant resolutions, maintain all agreements & required documentation; alignment & submission exercises to maintain share registry.
Who- the Candidate- Work Experience & Technical Skills:
Subject Matter Expert on all things related to Equity Compensation.
At least 5 years and preferably 8 years of experience in equity compensation, including financial modelling and reporting.
Experience working in a complex and fast-paced work environment with competing priorities.
Experience working in a global technology company is highly preferred, but not required.
Confident character to liaise with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Experience collaborating with colleagues and leaders across multiple time zones.
Experience using Google suite of tools including G-Mail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Meet, etc.
Discreet and professional with the ability to manage highly confidential information.
