An Accounting Manager is sought by a leading resource development firm advancing one of Canadas most significant clean energy projects.

As it transitions from development into construction and future operations, it is entering an exciting new phase, and the Accounting Manager will support financial reporting periods and work closely with both corporate and operational teams

This role is an initial 6-month contract, but there is a strong possibility for extension giving the new phase and a likely system upgrade, and there is the possibility of a permanent role further down the line

This is a fully remote across Canada, but requires working hours aligned with Pacific Time (PST).  If you are local to their Downtown Vancouver office, you are welcome to work on site, if you wish.

The company is a leading publicly listed resource development firm, backed by strong investor support and recent major funding, advancing one of Canada’s most significant clean energy projects.
 

What - the Role:

Reporting to the VP Finance and working closely with the corporate controller and operational controller, key responsibilities include:
 

  • Approve weekly and ad hoc pay runs.
  • Review journal entries, including month-end and quarter-end adjustments.
  • Review and validate AFEs (Authorizations for Expenditure) in SAP once approved by business units.
  • Review various schedules, including note disclosure support, monthly internal KPI finance reports, and new vendor setups.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, process weekly pay runs, and perform budget checks as required.
  • Assist with variance analysis (actual vs. budget, actual vs. forecast ) and provide year-end audit support.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls.
  • Support the preparation of external financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and other external partners.
  • Oversee general ledger integrity and ensure proper documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives within SAP Business ByDesign.

 

Who - the Candidate:

 

  • CPA designation (or international equivalent).
  • Previous accounting experience in the mining or resources sectors, including at a managerial or supervisory level.
  • Background in public practice (Big 4 or Top 10).
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Strong technical accounting skills; familiarity with public company reporting and SOX compliance is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable to shifting priorities, with a proven ability to work independently in a fast-changing, growing organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies.

 

Where:

How Much:

Hourly wage in the range of $60-70/hr + 4% vacation pay. If you are incorporated, please discuss with Swim.
