Assistant Controller

Who- the Company:
Exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing Vancouver based leading outsourced accounting and finance team supporting high growth companies. They are a people-centric organization and known for their collaborative team culture and rewarding environment. Hybrid work model of Tues-Wed-Thurs onsite.
What- the Role:
- Oversight, management and development of staff accountants and related work flows.
- Interacting with/supporting the CFOs and/or CEOs of client companies.
- Working with/supporting senior management, with a view to stepping into managing client files directly and taking on client relationships directly.
- Oversight of General Ledgers and underlying accounting transactions.
- Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Preparation of quarterly and annual MD&As.
- Preparation and/or review of working papers supporting financial statements and MD&As.
- Managing other regulatory reporting.
- Managing the audit/review processes with external auditors.
- Liaising with external tax advisors.
- Assisting with development and roll-out of Company templates.
- Assisting with roll-out of Company strategic plans.
- Assisting with other ad-hoc requests; and.
- Perform other accounting, client related and/or administrative tasks as needed.
Who – the Candidate:
- 5+ years of experience in an accounting/finance department of a public company or with a CPA firm (must include public company experience if from a CPA firm).
- CPA designation or international equivalent is preferred.
- Deep understanding of IFRS accounting and financial reporting for public companies is required.
- Experience drafting and/or auditing financial statements and notes, as well as preparing and reviewing supporting working papers.
- Proven experience working in teams, managing staff, and reporting to a Controller, CFO, or other senior personnel.
- Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written - with strong command of English.
- Highly organized, with excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Advanced IT proficiency, with experience using multiple accounting platforms and a comfort level with digitized environments.
- Experience with mining or exploration companies a plus.
- Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship required.
How Much:
$80-95K commensurate with level of work experience, bonus, extended health, PD dues, 3 weeks vacation.
