What- the Role:
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position involves mentoring junior accounting staff, preparing and analyzing financial statements, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with all relevant tax, legal, and financial reporting standards, including involvement in necessary government audits.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate financial wellness and operational efficiency, providing actionable insights to management.
- Lead or support the implementation and optimization of financial systems to enhance reporting, streamline processes, and increase data accuracy.
- Act as a liaison between the finance department and other teams, helping translate financial concepts into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Support product profitability analysis and initiatives to improve margins
- Prepare financial reports, statements and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives
- Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger systems and structures
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP or other relevant standards.
- Align procedures and policies with best practices and changes in GAAP and external regulations
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls that ensure effective compliance with corporate policies and procedures for general accounting operations
- Collaborate with external auditors, ensuring successful audit processes.
- Mentor and train finance staff to meet departmental and organizational goals
Who – the Candidate:
- CPA designation (applicants who also have an MBA degree will be considered)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years in a full-cycle accounting role
- Experience with inventory cost control/accounting
- Advanced computer skills, including Office suite applications and financial modelling/reporting tools
- Solid writing skills, with experience in preparing concise and insightful reports for management
- Knowledge of US accounting protocols and related international experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of MXP is desirable, but not essential
How Much:
$61,600 - $84,700, + discretionary bonus, 2 weeks’ vacation, 5 flex days, and 5 sick days + additional product purchase program perks.
Where:
Port Coquitlam, BC, hybrid working schedule, Tues-Wed-Thurs in-office | Mon-Fri remote.
