Very fulfilling Cost Analyst role with a reputable and well-established BC-based manufacturing company with a loyal customer base across Canada and a 40+ year history. Reporting into the Vice-President of Finance Operations. Collaborating closely with folks working in manufacturing & production. Excellent role for someone who wants to steadily grow their analytical career over the years with a stable, well-managed, and friendly company.
Who- the Company:
Our Client was established decades ago and creates high quality products with happy customers (B2B and B2C) across Canada. The company sells their products to many large companies that will be familiar to most candidates. In the last couple of years, the organization has undertaken a major rejuvenation of the corporate culture which is ongoing. The Company has a supportive, friendly, and fast-paced work environment, with a focus on their core values and giving back to the community.
What- the Role:
On behalf of our Client, SWIM is recruiting for a new Cost Analyst. The Analyst will report directly into a fantastic Vice-President, Finance & Operations, who is CPA-designated and an MBA. This is a newly created position due to increasingly more strategic business needs on the finance team.
The new Cost Analyst will collaborate very closely with the company’s manufacturing and production teams to create costing models, track material costs, evaluate equipment and other capital costs, analyze labour and overhead costs, investigate variances between forecasted vs actual costs, etc. The Analyst’s mandate will be to help the leadership team really understand the costs (materials, labour, overhead, equipment purchasing and maintenance, etc.) and then to drive cost optimization across the company.
This is a very dynamic role and the Analyst will be able to see their direct contribution to the company’s success! With time the Analyst may also take on responsibilities in other areas such as supply chain analysis, business decision support, and general FP&A. The Analyst will be using a great deal of Excel (macros, Power BI, etc.) and PowerPoint for presentations, as well as the company’s ERP for extracting data. This is a great role for someone who wants to see steady growth over the years with a reputable Canadian organization!
Who- the Candidate:
We’re seeking a proven Cost Analyst who is self-motivated, resourceful, and business-minded, and very excited to join a company as their first dedicated Cost Analyst. Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years of relevant work experience and must have worked for at least a few years in the manufacturing sector.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are important in this role, as is a collaborative approach to work and the ability to partner with colleagues in non-finance departments such manufacturing, production, supply chain, and operations. Pursuit of MBA Finance or CFA will be viewed very favourably.
How Much:
Base salary commensurate with level of education and relevant work experience- likely in the range of $75,000 to $95,000. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM.
Where:
The Analyst will be based out of the Company’s corporate headquarters in Burnaby. The office has an open and friendly work environment, with an employee gym, showers, and bike lockers. Free employee parking. The Analyst will also visit the nearby manufacturing facility so they can build relationships with the production staff, improve cross-departmental communication and data sharing, and get to know the operations first-hand to benefit the robustness of their cost analysis. These visits will likely be at least 1 day/week near the start of their tenure.
When & How to Apply:
Swim Recruiting will be shortlisting candidates on behalf of our Client and presenting profiles to the hiring team for review. Please reach out to your Recruiter at SWIM at your earliest opportunity if you are interested and would like to discuss further.
