The company is well-established, well-managed, and reputable, with a history going back almost 15 years and 8 full time employees, plus a few sister companies and corporate partners.
What- the Role:
Our client seeking a new Corporate Accountant (or possibly Senior Corporate Accountant or another title, depends on experience level and qualifications of hired individual). The new Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, finance, and bookkeeping for the firm. This includes day-to-day financial management, monthly reconciliations, tax information preparation, and financial reporting. The new Corp. Acct. will play a key role in helping the company maintain compliance and providing partners with the financial information necessary to make strategic business decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries, ledgers, and bank reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Oversee benefits plan administration.
- Prepare tax information as necessary for external accountants.
- Implement and maintain internal accounting controls to safeguard company assets.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for a well-rounded senior accounting & finance professional with both a detail-oriented approach and an entrepreneurial mindset. The ideal candidate for this role will have an existing diverse set of accounting skills and will be eager and willing to learn new skills over the years. We are looking for someone who has worked in in a similar role that encompasses both hands-on “junior” tasks as well as more strategic and forward-looking “senior” responsibilities.
Recent work experience working for a privately-held small to mid-size company that is primarily B2B in nature is very beneficial. Experience in a fast-paced and high-change sector such as technology is also beneficial. - 8+ years of progressive and relevant work experience within accounting, bookkeeping, and finance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian & British Columbian tax regulations.
- Proficiency using midsize cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar).
- Experience leading or participating in a financial system implementation project is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
CPA designation is highly preferred but not necessarily required for someone with the necessary skills and experience, and relevant post-secondary education
How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience- for now this range is quite wide, from $78,000 to $120,000. Additionally, this new employee will receive health & dental benefits, professional development support (i.e. for CPA annual membership fees), eligibility for a performance-based bonus, paid vacation, and opportunities for professional growth and development in a supportive and collaborative work environment. Where:
HYBRID. The company is headquartered in Burnaby, around a 15-minute walk from a Skytrain station. During onboarding and training, the new Accountant will work from the office at ~4 days a week. Once ramped up, the employee can choose to work from the corporate office 3 or possibly even only 2 days a week and from their home office rest of the time (with flexibility, based on business needs, meetings, etc.)
