Looking for a dynamic Corporate Accountant ready to grow with a global mining company. If you’re a designated CPA with around 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including strong IFRS financial reporting and month-end close, we want to hear from you. This role offers the chance to work on complex accounting transactions, corporate reporting, and cross-department collaboration while mastering advanced systems and tools.
 

Who- the Company:

Established and reputable international public mining company headquartered in Vancouver.
 

What- the Role:  

The Corporate Accountant oversees full-cycle accounting for corporate ledgers, managing complex transactions, treasury accounting, and corporate reporting. Key responsibilities include month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, internal controls, and strategic reporting. This role requires a system-savvy team player who excels with ERP tools and collaborates effectively across Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Consolidation teams.
 

  • Uphold and promote safety and environmental procedures.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, including bank, debt, derivatives, foreign currency, pension accruals, and fair market value adjustments.
  • Liaise with the treasury department on debt, derivatives, hedging, and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Handle treasury accounting using software tools like Integrity.
  • Load and review monthly ledgers in consolidation software (HFM) for accuracy.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual notes for consolidated financial statements.
  • Create monthly schedules and account reconciliations for senior management review.
  • Provide information to the tax department for corporate tax returns and audits.
  • Produce non-consolidated financial statements for tax filings.
  • Prepare audit working papers and collaborate with internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and procedures.
  • Drive process improvements for financial close and internal control efficiency.
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects, including system implementations and testing.

 

Who- the Candidate:

  • CPA designation.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience since achieving CPA designation.
  • Experience in a mid-size or large public practice accounting firm is highly preferred, ideally with relevant clients (i.e. in mining companies or global companies or publicly-listed companies).
  • Experience working for a large company in the accounting department is preferred.
  • Proficient ledger accounting with strong IFRS and month-end close background.
  • Experience with financial and management reporting.
  • Awareness of internal controls, such as SOX.
  • Capability to work with other departments and understand sophisticated business transactions, provide recommendations and communicate accounting conclusions effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and inventively with minimal direction.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong digital literacy, with expert spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience with top-tier ERP and consolidation systems, and other financial reporting software.

How Much:

Base salary will be commensurate with experience and when CPA was achieved, in the range of $80,000 to $100,000. Additionally, the new Corporate Accountant will receive a bonus, health benefits, paid vacation, CPA support, etc.
 

Where:

Downtown Vancouver. Hybrid. 3 days/week in-office.
