Well-rounded Accountant role with a publicly listed multi-national mining company based in Vancouver, BC.  Very high-growth company with a strong reputation and a very bright future. Make a meaningful impact to the business while working with kind, intelligent, and values-driven leaders.

Who- the Company: 

Our client is a growth-focused company headquartered in downtown Vancouver. This mid-size, global, and publicly listed organization is steadily expanding and maintaining a long-standing reputation for doing things the right way… strategically, ethically, and with a focus on long-term success. The Vancouver head office is home to around 40 corporate staff, with operations that span Canada and the U.S. The culture is down-to-earth, friendly, and professional, with little room for big egos or high drama.

What- the Role:

This is a unique opportunity for a well-rounded intermediate-level accounting professional. Reporting into the Controller and working with colleagues in accounts payable, financial reporting, treasury, FP&A, etc.

  • Help maintain accurate financial records:
    • Record and review transactions in the general ledger (payables, journal entries, bank transactions) and ensure timely, compliant data entry into the financial system following company policies and internal controls.
  • Support accounts payable and vendor processes:
    • Support vendor file maintenance, accounts payable, and payment processing (EFTs, wires, pre-authorized debits, cheques), including preparing bank/wire transfers and obtaining required approvals.
  • Perform reconciliations and regulatory tasks:
    • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and assist with Canadian tax filings and remittances (GST, EHT, WCB, CRA) along with supporting documentation for regulatory filings.
  • Support financial reporting and closing:
    • Assist with month-end/quarter-end/year-end close, intercompany payments, audit preparation, variance analysis, and other accounting projects.

 

Who- the Candidate:

  • We are seeking a well-rounded intermediate level accountant with at least three (3) years of relevant accounting-related work experience, including hands-on responsibility for journal entries, bank recs, AP & AR, remittances. etc
  • Post-secondary education in accounting is preferred, such as a diploma or certificate.
  • Steady tenures demonstrating loyalty and stability during career path. This company treats their people well and employees tend to stay a very long time! 
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Experience using a mid-size or sophisticated accounting software such as XERO, Sage 300, QuickBooks, Yardi, SAP, Dynamics, etc.  
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable, hard working, professional, and self-motivated!

 

How Much:

The salary for this role is commensurate with accounting experience, and will range from $72,000 to $85,000 with a sweet spot of $80,000.
Additionally, the Accountant will be eligible for:

  • Annual performance bonus.
  • RRSP match.
  • Potential to be eligible for long-term incentive plan in future.
  • Excellent extended benefits (health, dental, vision), with the option to customize based on employee’s personal & family needs.
  • Paid vacation program that starts at 3 weeks and increases in future based on tenure.
  • Monthly allowance for downtown parking or transit (taxable benefit).

Where:

Based in the heart of downtown Vancouver office in a beautiful building. Very close to rapid transit and very bus lines.  This is a full-time, in-office role (Monday to Friday). There is a monthly transportation allowance provided, to help cover either transit or driving/parking.
