Our client is a very well-established and successful company with operations across North America, ~2000 employees, 10+ legal entities, 30+ operating sites across Canada and the US, etc. They have a great reputation among their happy customers and partners. The 35+ person accounting & finance team is collaborative and friendly, and the leaders promote productive workdays with plenty of communication and organization to limit unnecessary overtime.
 

What- the Role:

Our client seeking a new Senior Accounting Manager. The responsibilities of this role are diverse and the Manager will have a front-row seat to the company’s interesting and complex business. The Senior Manager will have 2 Accountants as direct reports, and the team will work on full-cycle accounting including working papers, financial reporting, revenue recognition, inventory accounting, valuation work, ERP system optimization, partnering with other departments such as logistics and sales, implementing accounting workflows, overseeing inventory counts from a financial perspective, etc. The Sr Mgr will ensure accurate and timely financial information for Senior Leadership and for other key stakeholders such as the Board of Directors.
This hybrid role involves managing month-end close cycles, reviewing financial reports, and overseeing fixed assets, capital projects, and insurance renewals. Additionally, the Manager will get involved in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.
This is a long-term contract opportunity to start, open due to an internal project-based secondment. Full-time hours.

Who- the Candidate:

• Canadian CPA designation or International equivalent.
• We are looking for a senior-level accounting & finance professional with at least 6 years of progressive full-cycle accounting work experience.
• Must have experience leading, coaching, and mentoring at least 1 formal direct report, and ideally 2+ direct reports.
• Ideally candidates will have worked in a multi-national company with over $500M in revenues and over 1000 employees (this company is much larger than that, though!).
• Exposure to the manufacturing sector (in-house or from client portfolio) is highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP usage is required, bonus points for SAP!
• Qualified candidates will be excellent communicators who love to lead by example and who are excited to directly mentor a small team of accountants.  
• Experience with post-acquisition integration work and financial transformation projects is an asset, but not required.

How Much:

Competitive hourly consulting rate commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications, in the range of $50 to $80 an hour. Open to employee contractors or incorporated consultants.  If/when this contract were to convert to permanent employment, please note that the company provides full time employees with a generous profit-sharing program, good amount of paid time off, and robust health & dental benefits.

Where:  

HYBRID. This company is headquartered in Downtown Vancouver in a beautiful corporate office, very close to rapid transit. After initial training and onboarding the Senior Manager can work from home 2 days a week.
