What- the Role:
SWIM is recruiting for a new Paralegal for our client’s in-house litigation group. This is a newly created role due to ongoing growth of the organization. Working on a team Lawyers, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants. The new Paralegal will be primarily responsible for supporting litigation matters that are in front of the BC Supreme Court and prosecutions in the BC Provincial Court.

What- the Responsibilities:

Drafting & Preparing Legal Documents: petitions, application materials, affidavits, pleadings, orders, bills of costs, discovery requests, responses, correspondence with both opposing parties, etc.

Scheduling: meetings, trials, discoveries, hearings, interviews, etc.

Researching & Analyzing: statutes, regulations, court decisions, legal documents, articles for use in preparing materials, etc.

Ad hoc Assistance: interviews, investigations, subpoenas, bankruptcy proceedings, etc.

Administrative: filing, photocopying, general office duties etc.
Who- the Candidate:
Suitable candidates for this role will be detail-oriented, adaptable, professional, eager and willing to learn new skills, and able to exercise the utmost discretion and tact. The new Paralegal will be joining a tight-knit team with people who enjoy collaborating and learning from one another.

Relevant Paralegal Education: Paralegal certificate or Paralegal diploma from a reputable educational institution.

Relevant Paralegal Work Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in litigation, including direct experience supporting both BC Supreme Court and BC Provincial Court proceedings. Experience can be gained in a variety of litigation areas including criminal, family law, personal injury, and bylaw enforcement.

Located in the heart of Surrey. We are ideally seeking candidates who live in or near Surrey and who therefore view the office location as a positive. After training & onboarding, the Paralegal can choose to work from home 1 day a week.
