Accounts Payable Specialist
Excellent opportunity for an up & coming accountant with 6 months to 2 years of accounting-related work experience and relevant post-secondary education. We are looking for people who are detail-oriented, accurate, professional, and eager to learn. Accounting-related education is required. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are both must-haves. Downtown Vancouver company with a hybrid work schedule.

What- the Role:
Swim Recruiting is seeking a new Accounts Payable Specialist for this great organization. The A/P Specialist will be using a great deal of Excel (V looks-up, Sum If statements) as well as an ERP and an in-house system. Working on a broader accounting & finance team of 25+ people. There is great opportunity for long-term growth within the organization- the AP Specialist can continue on a corporate accounting career path, or perhaps even develop in other areas like financial planning & analysis.
- Ensure proper controls and authorizations are adhered to in order to generate invoice entries and create payments
- Process payment requests using Accounting Software and ensure balances agree between two financial systems.
- Make recommendations and participate in changes to systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, controls, and accuracy
- Complete various G/L account and/or monthly claims bank reconciliations as assigned
- Prepare journal entries
- Participate in training for backup coverage of other payables accounting responsibilities as necessary
- Assist Controller with various accounting projects as assigned
- Prepare year-end working papers and assist with year-end audit
Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking individuals with at least 6 months of relevant work experience- can be gained from a permanent role, or perhaps a Co-op term or internship.
Accounting-related post-secondary education is absolutely required- a Bachelor of Commerce with an accounting Major, a financial management diploma, an accounting certificate, etc.
We are looking for people who have a positive attitude and the ability and willingness to learn quickly. Solid intermediate level skills in Excel is required. Qualified candidates must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and accurate. Successful candidates will align well with the organization’s corporate values and culture- SWIM can provide more insight.
Downtown Vancouver in a beautiful corporate office. Hybrid work options available once the AP Specialist is onboarded and fully trained (1, 2, or even 3 days work from home per week)
Base salary commensurate with experience- please discuss with SWIM. The new employee will also be eligible for excellent health and dental benefits, an employer-paid RRSP contribution, and 3 weeks vacation.
