Residential Real Estate Accountant

What- the Role:
Our client is looking to hire a bright, results-oriented, and systems savvy Accountant who will report into the Accounting & Finance Manager, interact closely with the COO and CFO, and work alongside tenants and property managers on a diverse portfolio of residential properties.
This new Accountant will look after a diverse and interesting portfolio of residential properties and will gradually take on responsibilities in corporate accounting, including consolidation work for multiple entities. Longer-term this individual can gain more and more corporate accounting or even development accounting responsibilities to broaden their long-term career potential in the real estate sector.

The new Accountant will be interacting internally with colleagues in all departments (sales, marketing, property management, development, acquisitions, etc.) as well as with external stakeholders. There is an exciting opportunity for a Real Estate Accountant to join this dynamic company. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to complete tasks on a timely basis.
Manage daily operations of property accounting including cash receipts and AR
Inform Residential PM of any NSF, and changes in AR
Process Move in/Move Outs in accounting software by interpreting new and existing leases
Review month-end financial statements and sub-ledger reconciliations
Prepare monthly recurring entries and accruals on a yearly basis
Review/ prepare tenant’s chargebacks
Set up new tenants and update any changes as required in accounting software
Maintain monthly rent rolls and vacancy loss reports, rent increases
Communicate monthly/annual budget variance analysis to Property Managers and provide analytical assistance as needed
Reconcile bank activity on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
Liaison with Property Managers and tenants in a timely and professional manner as required
Other duties may be assigned from time to time
Assist Reporting Managers, COO, and CFO if required
