What- the Role:
On behalf of our client, SWIM is seeking a new Risk Manager who will be based in the corporate headquarters in Vancouver. Risk Management is considered an important function at this company and has the full support of the CFO and the Board. The Risk Manager will have responsibility for risk management, loss prevention, internal audit, business continuity, insurance program oversight, etc.
Working collaboratively with members and business leaders across all departments, including sales, marketing, operations, supply chain, human resources, and information technology. The Manager will use various systems including an ERP, Excel, PowerPoint, a financial planning software, a data visualization program, and eventually a GRC tool.

Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking a dynamic, business savvy, and proactive risk management professional who loves working at a fast pace in a complex corporate environment. The new Risk Manager will be someone who can truly partner with the business and who can approach risk management with a collaborative, long-term perspective.

  • CPA Accounting Designation combined with a relevant undergraduate degree

    • Any of these designations (pursuing or already achieved) is not required but would be very beneficial- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Canadian Risk Management (CRM) and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • At least 5 and ideally 7+ years of relevant experience in a risk management, loss prevention and/or internal audit role.

  • Training in a multi-national public practice accounting firm is highly preferred, ideally up to Manager-level.

  • Experience in the risk management function of a very large, multi-jurisdictional business- ideally with operations across North America.

  • Experience collaborating with senior executives, department heads, and Board members.

  • Systems- proficiency in Excel is required. Experience using an ERP is highly preferred. Experience using a data visualization tool is an asset. Hands-on experience using a GRC tool is a very beneficial (big bonus points for experience assessing and implementing a new GRC tool!).

  • Hands on process improvement and change management skills.

How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education. Where:  
This company is headquartered in the heart of Downtown Vancouver in a beautiful corporate office. The Manager can choose to work entirely from office or can work from home 2 days a week- getting to the office for team collaboration, important meetings, discussions, social events, etc. This role will eventually entail occasional business travel (Canada and US).
