Senior Director of Finance
Senior finance leadership role with a reputable real estate development company with strategic growth plans in place. Open to candidates who are serious about full relocation to the Thompson-Okanagan region of BC.
Who- the Company:
Our client is a well-established real estate developer based in Abbotsford that is growing their presence in the Thompson-Okanagan region of British Columbia. The company is well-diversified with properties in various asset classes. Additionally, the organization is well-resourced and there is a long-term strategy in place to continue to expand the geographic reach of their real estate portfolio.
What- the Role:
Our client is hiring for a new Senior Director of Finance who will be the top leader of the company’s finance function for their growing operations in the BC Interior. The Senior Director of Finance will manage and mentor up to 5 direct reports on their accounting & finance team. This is a diverse role spanning corporate accounting, financial reporting, financial system optimization, tax, financial planning & analysis, budgeting & forecasting, business decision support, and risk management. One of the key projects in 2023 is to analyze and improve the company’s use of current financial systems and assess the potential ROI of implementing a new system. Additionally, the Sr. DoF will partner with Operations, Sales, Property Management, and other departments to provide business decision support to the executive leadership team. There are plenty of exciting short-term and long-term projects the Sr. DoF can take on, as well as a good deal of opportunity for career development within the organization for a strong performer.
Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for a well-rounded accounting & finance leader who enjoys wearing many hats, and who can truly be both hands-on and strategic. With time, the Senior Director of Finance can focus more and more on strategy, but in the short-term this role does require someone who can work alongside their accountants to get the day-to-day work done. Although detail-oriented, the new Sr. DoF will be someone who can see the forest for the trees and who can figure out what is material to the business and what isn’t.

CPA designation is required. Public practice training is preferred.

We are seeking candidates with at least 10 years of relevant, progressive experience in accounting & finance.

Experience in the fast-paced and high-change real estate development sector is almost required; however, candidates who have worked in similar industries such as hospitality, restaurants, construction, or property management will also be considered.

Qualified candidates for this role will be very strong with financial systems, including process improvements, automation, and optimization. Ideally candidates will have had direct involvement in a system enhancement or implementation project.

Experience as the top finance leader is highly preferred, reporting into a CEO, COO, Founder/Owner, etc.

Experience in an organization with an involved Board of Directors is preferred.
Where:
Thompson-Okanagan Region of British Columbia. Although the company is based in Abbotsford, there is currently a focus on development projects in the Southern-Interior region. We are open to candidates who are seriously considering a move to the Interior from elsewhere in BC or even from elsewhere in Canada.
How Much:
