A Burnaby headquartered retailor is hiring a HR generalist in what is a newly created role. Subject to performance, there is the hope and expectation the position will progress to HR Manager level, so this is fantastic opportunity for a HR generalist serious about carving out a career and developing and growing as a HR professional.
Who – the company:
The company is an established Canadian retailer with 4 stores and another 2 on the horizon.
What – the role:
There is not an existing HR function in place, but there is existing policies, procedures, templates, and programs. With the support of the Assistant Controller, General Manager, and Operations Manager, you will create a more centralised and standardized approach across corporate and store level. The scope of your role will cover recruitment, employee relations, benefits, training, document control, and Health & Safety, whilst promoting the company’s core values, contributing to a positive work environment, and delivering HR strategies, programs, and initiatives.

Who – the candidate:
Post-secondary education (bachelor’s degree or certificate program)
Prior HR generalist experience inclusive of recruitment and onboarding
Highly organized and resourceful with a detailed and results orientated approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with management teams across all functions at corporate and store level.
Proactive with a strategic mindset
Retail experience is a bonus
French speaking skills is also nice to have, but not a must
Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residence, or an Open Work Permit is required.
Based at their Burnaby corporate office which is accessible from both a local SkyTrain station and various bus routes, and there is free parking on site for those driving. This is a full-time, office-based role.
Salary of between $70,000 and $80,000 and benefits from day 1 including health, dental, and vision.
