What- the Role:

The Senior Accountant position reports to the Financial Reporting Manager and is responsible for analyzing financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports/statements and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures. This individual must be a strong team player and be able to communicate with several cross functional roles. This individual requires the ability to understand new concepts, operate in a proactive manner and identify areas for improvement.

  • Prepare month-end, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages and ensure accurate
  • and timely close processes
  • Prepare working papers and reconciliations as assigned
  • Provide accounting support and oversight to the Finance Department and Branch Operations
  • Support the preparation of tax returns and any resulting audits
  • Support and lead year-end audit and review engagements
  • Management and support of the annual budgeting process
  • Reviewing fixed asset and lease accounting activities, including asset capitalization, disposals and revaluations, lease setup and maintenance, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests
  • Investigate and resolve financial transactions and reporting issues
  • Develop, recommend and continuously improve internal controls and processes
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the operations
  • In addition to core month-end responsibilities, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement and reporting enhancement initiatives within these areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Financial Reporting Manager

Who- the Candidate:

  • Must possess CPA designation or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a full cycle accounting environment
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and experience with IFRS an asset
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
  • Excellent proficiency with Excel and relevant accounting software, experience with Epicor an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a commitment to accurate, complete and detail-oriented work
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Sound analytical thinking, problem solving, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Highly flexible and able to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial, respectful, and professional relationships with all levels of an organization
  • Behave ethically and with integrity

How Much:

Base salary in the range of $90-95K commensurate with level of experience, skills, and education + a discretionary bonus, robust compensation package including RSP contribution, professional dues and free transit pass- please discuss further with SWIM.

Where:

Based in the company’s Vancouver head office. Hybrid working schedule of Mon-Tues-Wed in-office and Thurs-Fri remote.
