The company currently employs fewer than 20 individuals in the Vancouver office (many others are employed at subsidiary offices), and they are looking to grow over the next year. What- the Role:
Our client is seeking a Corporate Accountant to join their tight-knit team. This individual will report directly into the Director of Finance, a CPA who trained in a Big 4 firm, and will also work closely with the Senior Accountant and the CFO.
This is a well-rounded role involving month-end close, accounts payable, administrating share-based options, processing a small payroll, etc. The payroll piece represents maximum 1 day of work every 2 weeks (processing payroll for ~20 salaried employees).
As the Corporate Accountant establishes themselves and gets to know the processes and systems, they can gradually take on more and more tasks within accounting, management reporting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
As the company has a small corporate team, everyone there “wears a lot of hats”. For example, the Corporate Accountant will support the CFO with various HR tasks such as setting up new hires, assisting with salary increases, and maintaining the company’s compensation spreadsheets. The volume of HR work will fluctuate, but not total anymore than 10% of the work over the course of a year.
Who- the Candidate:
We are seeking candidates with at least 4 years of relevant work experience, and ideally 6+ years. To be successful in this role, the Corporate Accountant will be able to work independently with little supervision but will also be a collaborative and communicative team player. Qualifications include ability to multi-task, excellent communicator, willingness to take on a variety of corporate tasks, a results-oriented approach to work, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications- Work Experience & Education:
- Education
- Relevant post-secondary education (required).
- CPA designated or actively pursuing CPA designation (preferred).
- Work Experience
- Experience processing full-cycle accounts payable (required)
- Experience processing a small salaried payroll (preferred).
- Experience working in the mining sector (preferred).
- Experience working for a global public company (preferred).
