A fantastic, reputable, and empowering NPO (not for profit) organization is seeking a fantastic Book keeper to join their team. This is a dynamic role that will ensure the accuracy and integrity of their accounting and financial systems and processes.

Who- the company:
Our client is a well-known and respected local NPO that has been serving the downtown community for many years. They provide basic need services, programs, and specialized supports.

What- the role:
Our client is looking for a Bookkeeper. This is a 3-month contract. This position will be responsible for completing day to day bookkeeping, maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. Other duties listed below:

  • Records and maintains the organization’s financial transactions

  • Processes and records accounts payable

  • Process accounts receivable including revenue from donations, grants, and funding contracts

  • Reconciles bank statements, including direct deposits, ensuring accuracy of data

  • Reconcile visa and other credit card statements and reports ensuring accuracy and informs of any irregularities

  • Conducts month-end closing, enters general ledger entries, and adjustments

  • Prepares financial information for charities and reports, as well as Revenue Canada, including GST remittance

  • Input journal entries including year end adjustments identified by the auditor

  • Ensure accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll in ADP and CRA remittances

  • Reconcile and prepare reports including union dues

Who- the candidate:
We are looking for a responsible, ethical, and diligent accounting professional. Qualifications listed below:

  • 2+ years full-cycle accounting experience preferably in an NPO

  • Accounting diploma/degree

  • Experience working in varied revenue streams including grant funding, provincial/federal restricted funds

  • Minimum one year working knowledge of Quick Books

  • Fluent in CRA guidelines specific to charitable organizations and particularly grants, donations, and fundraising requirements

  • Strong computer and organizational skills

Where- the location:  
Our client is located in downtown Vancouver. This is a fully in-office position. This will be on a fortnight (reduced schedule). Every other week, this person will work 4 days a week (with Fridays off).
