6-month contract M365 Platform Engineer role with a global retail organization with an on-site work environment.

What & Why:
As a result of continued investment in global workplace technology, our client is looking to add an M365 Platform Engineer to their team. In this role you’ll design, implement, and maintain their Microsoft 365 platforms, serving as primary caretaker of production M365 systems and central escalation point for complex incidents. You’ll manage tenant-level M365 and Azure configurations, administer Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, MFA, and IAM, and implement email security controls including DMARC, DKIM, SPF, and Defender for O365. Beyond day-to-day operations, you’ll support compliance capabilities (retention, litigation hold, eDiscovery), participate in on-call rotations, and ensure M365 services are delivered securely and reliably in alignment with enterprise standards. You’ll provide technical leadership by mentoring engineers, contributing to Agile delivery planning, optimizing platform performance and licensing costs, and building automation and tooling. Working across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and third-party integrations, you’ll ensure production readiness while driving continuous improvement and standards verification.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a primarily in office work environment with 4 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 services in large-scale enterprise environments, with deep expertise in Entra ID and identity governance.
• Strong background in Exchange Online and email security, including implementation and management of DMARC, DKIM, SPF, Defender for O365, and related security controls.
• Experience with compliance and governance concepts including retention policies, litigation hold, eDiscovery, and alignment with Microsoft security baselines.
• Technical leadership and operational excellence with proven ability to serve as escalation support for complex incidents, participate in on-call rotations, mentor engineers, and optimize platform performance, licensing, and costs through automation and best practices.

 
Compensation: this role pays between $75-90 per hour.
