6-month DevSecOps Engineer contact role working on a high-profile program with a local enterprise organization

What & Why:

This role builds and maintains our client’s log ingestion infrastructure, powering security monitoring across the enterprise. You’ll own end-to-end onboarding for log sources; designing, building, and maintaining Cribl (Edge/Stream) pipelines that collect, transform, normalize, and route logs from network, cloud, containers, and endpoints to downstream security platforms like SIEM. Working with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), you’ll implement source-specific pipeline logic for varied formats and delivery mechanisms, partner with application teams to understand logging capabilities, and collaborate with the SOC to ensure complete, consistent data for threat detection. You’ll troubleshoot ingestion issues (gaps, duplication, schema drift, volume anomalies) and validate end-to-end delivery. This role is foundational to their security posture, you’re building the plumbing that makes security monitoring possible.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a remote work arrangement, 4 days on site.
 

You:

You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

• 2-4 years of log ingestion and pipeline engineering experience, ideally with Cribl Edge/Stream or similar platforms, including ability to parse, transform, normalize, and route logs while validating end-to-end delivery.
• Cloud and infrastructure foundations (AWS/Azure) with understanding of logging access patterns, IAM, Terraform for infrastructure-as-code deployments, and Linux/CLI operations and troubleshooting.
• Security logging and automation experience including SIEM fundamentals, hands-on work with large complex datasets in enterprise-scale environments, and proficiency in Python/Bash for automation and validation (ADX/Sentinel ingestion integration, REST ingestion, and ASIM familiarity a plus).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex ingestion issues, collaborate with application teams and SOC stakeholders, and create detailed, high-quality design deliverables (Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline; retail experience a plus).

Compensation:

This role pays $60-70 per hour.
