3-month (high chance of extension) Security Engineer contact role working on a high-profile program with a local enterprise organization

What & Why:
In this role you’ll focus on protecting sensitive data and ensuring safe adoption of AI tools across the organization. Working within the Data & AI Security team, you’d be responsible for developing and optimizing Data Loss Prevention policies that prevent unauthorized data exposure, creating security dashboards in Power BI to track metrics and risks, and implementing controls around AI platforms like Microsoft Copilot to ensure they interact safely with company data. This role combines technical security work with data analysis and visualization, helping leadership understand and manage the organization’s data security posture while supporting their digital transformation. They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have a remote work arrangement, 4 days on site.
You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview for data classification, sensitivity labeling, and information protection controls.
- 2+ years developing and fine-tuning pattern matching logic for Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.
- 2+ years working with Microsoft 365 platforms (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) focused on data permissions, access governance, and exposure risk management.
- Hands-on experience working with large, complex datasets in enterprise-scale environments.
Compensation:
This role pays $50-55 per hour.
